Overview
Alcatel-Lucent's MyPocket Communicator allows employees to use a single device for on-site and off-site mobility. With a single number and single-user interface, employees have access to corporate telephony and benefit from all the main features offered by the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX. It provides users with continuous communications thanks to the handover between GSM and WiFi radio networks.
This dual mode (GSM and WiFi) application can be used with any Windows-based mobile phone. A simple software download transforms the dual mode phone into a VoWLAN terminal adding Alcatel-Lucent Cellular Extension capabilities to enhance GSM.
When on site, voice services and a high-speech connection are enabled with WiFi. Once off-site, the call can be switched to the GSM network without altering user interface or the Cellular Extension service level.
In both cases, the dual-mode device is recognized as a regular extension by the corporate network, with access to the full range of advanced features, including soft keys, buddy lists and call-by-name.
This dual-mode solution is built upon the following components:
OmniPCX Enterprise Communications server (6.0 release), WLAN infrastructure within the enterprise, MyPocket Communicator is activated with one license per user.
The client software is then installed in each user's device enabling the application.
